My name is Vimbai Gift Makurumure, a Zimbabwean trained guide and nature enthusiast. I come from a family of eight and am married to Ruth, with whom I have three beautiful kids, Danai, Tavimbanashe, and Tadiswa. I grew up on a plot with a lot of livestock and farming, which fostered my love for animals and nature since childhood. This passion led me to pursue a career aligned with my interests. During my high school days, I enjoyed watching wildlife channels such as National Geographic and travel programs like the Thirsty Traveller.
After obtaining a diploma in marketing from my tertiary education, a friend introduced me to the School of Guiding in Harare, where I acquired my guiding license in Zimbabwe in 2006. I started working as a trainee guide in 2009 for an Australian Overland company Kumuka Worldwide. I have worked as a freelance guide, tour leader, and cook. In 2012, I joined Intrepid Travel as a tour leader and traveled extensively throughout Southern and East Africa, covering countries such as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.

My passion for the outdoors, socializing, and showcasing the beauty of Africa has taken me far and wide. I have also freelanced and did private trips for guests who want to delve into the untouched parts of Africa to have an in-depth experience of the unique culture and traditions. In 2014, I was nominated to represent Africa at the Walt Disney World Florida, USA, as a Savanna Guide based at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a year.
